Artisan Wheel-Thrown Pottery

J Hall Pottery is a small, rural studio on the Alabama Gulf Coast, focused on creating functional pots for everyday use. I create pottery pieces that you will want to use everyday and not simply admire on a shelf. Buy unique pieces for yourself or custom order mugs emblazoned with your organization's logo.
  • Crafted with care, my pots blend functionality and aesthetics.
  • Enjoy my unique collection of stoneware and porcelain items.
  • Every piece is hand made and one of a kind.

My Production Process

I work with either stoneware clays or porcelain, and fire pots in electric or wood-fired kilns. I mix most of my own glazes but use some commercial glazes on occasion. On pieces that will be wood-fired, I use little or no glaze on the exterior of the pot and let the kiln atmosphere do the decorating. I find that this approach gives me the more interesting and natural finish I'm striving for.
